After a failed all-night attempt to drain the pond last Fall, we gave it another try this year. The water is lower now than it was in Fall so draining it this time was successful. Yay! Major work has been happening at the swimming hole for the past 2 full days. Brunet Construction bulldozed muck, from years of dead vegetation, out of the pond. JP & Lucien have been picking up as many water critters they could find. Getting rid of the muck will significantly lower the water critter population including snails that are hosts in the schistosome cycle (swimmer’s itch).
